Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka shankar is a British and American sitarist. She also plays music. She is the youngest woman and the first to be awarded an official British House of Commons shield. Anoushka Shankar is a rising star on the Indian sitar. She is the daughter and pupil of Ravi Shankar. She was born 1982 in London. Her early years included a period of time in London in London and New Delhi. In the age of thirteen, she gave her first performance in New Delhi. She graduated in 1999 from her high school education in Encinitas CA. The career of Anouskha as a musician and performer is remarkable, even at her age. She is often seen performing together with her dad, and has performed with him for quite a number of years. Her first solo album, Anourag, was released in 1998. Her Grammy-nominated Live At Carnegie Hall album was released in 2002. Her career on stage is extensive for she has performed in most of the world's major venues. Anoushka isn't only a singer. She published Bapi, the Love of My Life in 2002. The book is a biography which pays tribute to her dad Ravi Shankar. She has also acted in films in 2003 she acted in the film Dance Like a Man where she plays an aspiring Bharat Natyam dancer. Anoushka is still progressing on her path and there will be many more things to come from this amazing woman. Anoushka Shankar is an English born musician who spent her early days between London, Delhi and California. She began learning music at the age nine and performed on the sitar for the 75th anniversary of her father's birth in Delhi the following year. Anoushka gained a variety of valuable experiences by accompanying her dad on his world tour. This included performing in Carnegie Hall and at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festivals, as well as making recordings with George Harrison. As a tribute to her status as a leading musician of Asian Arts, she was presented with the House of Commons Shield by British parliament.
